NOVA Goes on Retreat...
In 2019 - the NoVA Community Retreat moved
to new dates and a new location -
the Retreat took place
Sunday, October 27th to Tuesday, October 29th
at the PriestField Pastoral Center in Kearneysville, WV.
Our 2019 Theme - "Why We Gather" - an exploration of our personal and communal faith life and spirituality. Over our three days together, we will explore questions such as Who/What is God for me? What/Who is church (Church?) for me; and/or what is community for me? How do I pray? How does my community (NOVA) influence how I act in the world? Beginning with ourselves as unique individuals on pilgrimage, we have joined together on this journey of faith. Some have been on this path for almost five decades and some a few years. Through conversation and dialogue, prayer and liturgy, food, fun and singing, we will explore our unique stories that have placed us on this path together. Over the coming months, we will share resources and ideas on how each one of us can prepare for this time together so that we can have truly meaningful spiritual experiences and deep sharing.
Each year, the Community takes a week-end away to deepen our faith, strengthen our bonds, play, pray and learn together. Our retreat home is Shrine Mont, a beautiful, restful spiritual refuge tucked into the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The retreat is planned by community members and can include outside leaders as well as NOVA facilitators. Themes have included: Conflict resolution and peace-building; Music and Soul-making; “Into the Woods” – facing our fears and doubts.
