THIS WEEK'S ANNOUNCEMENTS
April 12, 2026
April 12, 2026
Calendar:
Sunday, April 19: The NOVA Book Group will meet at the Mog’s house following liturgy.
Sunday, April 19: A "NOVA SWAP” will be held before and after the liturgy in anticipation of Earth Day on April 22.
Sunday, April 19: The process of selecting a new NOVA co-chair begins.
Friday, Oct. 2 through Sunday, Oct. 4: Please save these dates for NOVA's annual retreat.
There are still a couple of spaces open in a series of now four Zoom classes to be held every Tuesday, April 14 through May 5, from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. The course, entitled “Understanding Climate Change,” is led by Gloria Mog and Dr. Jamie Bacon. If you wish to register, contact [email protected].
From Kate Doherty: In the period before international coaching week, professional coaches from across the country volunteer their services to allow people to enjoy the benefits of coaching. If you know someone who would like to have a session or two with a coach - to think about a decision they have to make, get clarity on issues in their lives, or think through next steps toward a goal - let Kate know. She’ll be happy to connect them with a pro bono coach. The offer is for up to three hours of free coaching between now and May 17.
The Nova Book Group will meet on Sunday, April 19 at the Mog home after liturgy. We will have a potluck lunch and discuss the novel “Only the Beautiful” by Susan Meissner. All are welcome. Please RSVP to [email protected] if you plan to attend.
April is Earth Month when the whole world celebrates the gifts our planet gives us and encourages all to do their part to help it thrive once more. The theme of Earth Day 2026 is “Our Power, Our Planet.” Go to Earthday.org for information on activities and festivals. We will hold a NOVA SWAP on Sunday, April 19 in anticipation of Earth Day on April 22. Bring any new or gently used household items, clothing, books, etc. that you are ready to pass on for someone else to enjoy. Hopefully, you might also find “just the treasure” you were looking for as well. Shopping will occur before and after liturgy.
NOVA’s annual retreat will take place Oct. 2-4 at Bon Secours Retreat Center. Ilia Delio, theologian and author, will lead us accompanied by our own, Francis Gargani. Please save the dates.
From Linda Christie: Please bring back any Pyxes (take-home Communion boxes).
From Tom Clarkson:
– Please Vote “Yes” on Redistricting by April 21. You may vote early, in-person from Monday, April 13 through Saturday, April 18. The final day to vote is Tuesday, April 21. – Let the Children Live Campaign: Our friend Fr. Jacek has asked us to support Gaza’s Children. Here is a link that will take you to their signup page: https://cmep.org/let-children-live/ where You will Receive the Name of a Palestinian Child Alive Today and Lift them up in Prayer and Advocacy. The same link is at the top of the new NOVA Directory.
– Call Congress for Gaza, it’s easy and influential. One way for busy people to influence Congress is by calling their two Senators and their Congressional Representative once a week.
Congressional staff keep track of the numbers of callers and their issues. Every call from a constituent represents a potential vote at election time, and votes matter to your Congress people. Calling is easy to do once you get started if you save their specific office phone numbers on your phone. To get started call the Capitol Switchboard, (202) 224-3121. Ask the operator to connect you with the office of your U.S. Senator or Representative. When you’re connected to their office you usually have the option to speak to their staff or leave a message. It’s better to speak to a person. Be polite. Say that you’re a constituent and you want them to save the people of Gaza and Palestine. Use any words you like. Get the office’s direct number before you hang up and you won’t have to go through the Capitol Switchboard next time. Repeat once a week every week, until Gaza is free.
– GARDEN WORK FOR RONALDO. Ronaldo Vail (father of our refugee family from Guatemala) is available for garden work, however, his schedule at Target varies. Please call Ronaldo directly @ 731-618-1459 to set up a time. He welcomes extra work around the garden and home. Please click here for directions to his home
Next Sunday is the Third Sunday of Easter. It is a CLL/Community Led Liturgy. The planner is Barbara Formoso. The scribe is Markie Harwood, who as usual, needs all announcements in writing.
